It's time to reveal some gorgeousness that you can get your hands on!
Hey friends and Happy (belated) New Year!
I’ve started off the new year hitting the ground running with all things In the Company of Killers related. With only 2 months out from launch, there’s a lot of things ramping up or getting finalized! It’s a little overwhelming when you’re a newbie author used to anxiously wondering if you’ll get just *one* publishing email for the day, only to end up getting a clogged inbox full of questions, comments, or action-needed all at once. Though, I’m not complaining and soaking in all the exciting news coming my book child’s way!
And speaking of exciting news, two of those I get to share with you today consist of absolutely stunning art I had commissioned by the lovely Flyora Art over on Instagram!

Did you gasp at it’s beauty as loudly as I did?!
My vision for this piece was something cinematic, dramatic and incorporated important elements from the story. Fireworks play an integral role, because fireworks at their core represent excess, fierceness, drama, beauty, and intensity. They take up a lot of space and demand your attention! The story and characters within the book are just like them so it was a no-brainer to have Tasha and Leo’s backdrop be full of them.
Not only did I want to have fireworks in this piece, I also wanted to incorporate the three main Mafias in the book . Lions = The Nicastro Family. White Lilies = The Danesi Family. Doves = The Salvators. As you can see, Lera did a fantastic job weaving these Mafia symbols in from the vision board I gave her! Can we all just take a moment to bask in that fiery red lion exploding behind Tasha?! The doves swooping around giving such amazing movement to the art?! This is why I love artists. They take the vision in your head and make it 1000x better!
This piece doesn’t come from a particular scene in the book, but if I were to plop it somewhere in, it would come at the last third of the story when Tasha and Leo venture into a dangerously glamorous party! The gown Tasha is wearing is from the Paolo Sebastian 2019/2020 East of the Sun West of the Moon collection that I reference in the book because she (and her author) are obsessed with this designer and this collection! Of course, it wouldn’t be a dramatic Mafia romance without some guns involved while they’re in their best haute couture looks.

But first, what’s a preorder campaign?
For those new to them, preorder campaigns are when an author wants to thank their readers for putting down their hard-earned money early to secure a preorder of their upcoming book through a gift (or two). These are fun bookish bonuses that are put together by the author and/or publisher to thank readers and hopefully encourage other readers to preorder, too! But fear not for those who only have the means to get a library copy: I also have included you in this campaign too!
How do I get the goodies?
Unless otherwise noted, to guarantee you receive the bookish goodies listed, you need to fill out the form found below by March 18th 2025. Make sure you have a screenshot of your receipt and/or library request on hand!
